Costal Modeling
CWP Engineering possess the capabilities to perform sophisticated coastal specialized studies to support the design activities and inform environmental studies which are usually required as part of the permit / approval process of coastal projects. The studies are performed with state-of-the-art modeling software and analytical techniques.
Our modeling team has extensive experience in the implementation of 1D, 2D and 3D models executed to simulate relevant coastal processes, including wave dynamics, coastal circulation, storm surge / inundation, tidal hydraulics and flushing, coastal sediment transport, beach erosion & shoreline evolution, etc. The studies are typically performed based on the existing conditions (i.e. pre-development scenarios) and to predict future conditions (i.e. post-development scenarios) to support and provide guidance to our clients during the project planning process.
Our coastal modelling capabilities include the following:
1 Wave propagation and Transformation
2 Wave penetration and harbour tranquility
3 Tidal and wave-induced hydrodynamic modelling (2D & 3D)
4 Water circulation and renewal (flushing)
5 Thermal dispersion and recirculation
6 Sediment transport
7 Beach erosion and shoreline evolution
8 Storm surge & inundation
The pre-processing and post-processing activities are undertaken and implemented in GIS-based software technology which allows for efficient set up and execution.
